Cid into 03 Gsi

Im looking into changing my display to a CID in my 03 Gsi (from Gid)
Ive searched around the forum and found several topics on this but still umsure how and if it can be done without too much hassle
I have a double din aftermarket head unit and would like to retain it instead of using a NCDC2013 or similar factory unit, just want a colour screen with working BC
Has anyone done this, or am i just wasting time & money
