Hi,
I've read a lot on this forum and others about the hi pressure fuel pump and pressure regulator issue.
I have an 04 Signum elite with the 2.2 direct engine.
Symptoms:
Car drives perfectly most of the time.
If I try to accelerate hard from just around the 2K mark, the engine misfires.
(especially if cornering or on a steep gradient)
If I back of the throttle slightly and re-apply it, the misfire clears and all is well.
If I keep the throttle pressed for more that 5 seconds the engine management light comes on. Car continues to misfire. Engine light stays on. If I turn the ignition off and then back on (while moving, clutch depressed) the misfire clears but the engine light remains. This light may turn its self off after a few days.
Fault codes are (from an OP_COM 100219a)
P0303 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
(01) - not present
P0501 - <Unknown DTC>
(F0) - not oresent
None of this happens if I don't let the rev's fall below 3K! Fine for me but the wife hates it.
This fault seems different to most listed as at high RPM its fine, only at low RPM does the fault manifest it's self. I don't want to surge into replacing the FPR and HPF pump or the coil pack, without first getting some advice from this forum.
My experience is with landrovers and motorcycles not VX stuff so as few acronyms as possible please.
cheers
Arron
