    Default Severe intermittant wheel wobble

Driving down the M23 today at about 60ish and very suddenly the steering wheel started shaking violently. I noticed it eased off when I had my foot off the accelerator... Pulled off next chance I got, checked round the wheels, gave the nuts a nip. No more problems for rest of my journey.

On the way home it started doing it again kinda came and went then stopped entirely.

    What could cause this?

Car is a 53 plate and has done just over 130k

I had this on my 3 series last year. Turned out to be a buckled rear wheel - you'd not notice by eye though, might be worth getting them on a balance machine. I was going to repair it, but a new tyre made the difference as it gave it more absorption.

Sounds like you need your wheels balanced buddy will only shudder at a certain speed not at a slower 1 or faster 1 just about what you mention on here .
Not expensive and quick to do at any tyre service

Also have the tyre checked to see if it is running true? There may be a slight weave in the tread or even a flat spot caused by the car standing for a long time.

Also check the inner sidewalls for bulges, the tyre may be deteriating and forming a bulge when it gets hot?

What make are the tyres, there has been problems noted on the forum with certain makes.

It's not at certain speeds. It comes and goes at speeds above forty. I had it up to 75 with no sign of it today. All four wheels have recently been balanced and it came on very suddenly yesterday.

I have Falkens on the rear and Sumo Akinas on the front. No signs of damage to either of them.

New noise I noticed today it when turning at full lock on low speed, theres a kind of clicking/creaking noise. I can't tell if its come from the nearside front or rear

I was going to suggest checking your springs as i suspected one had broken.
