    Default 04 3.2 v6 elite would you or wouldnt you

    Hiya folks as title suggests i have been offered an 04 plate signum elite 3.2 v6 auto...with a possible head gasket failure, still runs and drives for around the £600 mark... unsure on mileage at the mo but they dont normally seem to be too higher mileagers!!.so would you or wouldnt you....were are quite capable around cars ie timing belts, water pumps, springs, etc. any advice greatfully received.

    I'd check the auto box too incase it's that that's mixed with the water and not engine oil.

    I am currently trying to find out as much as poss, its ended up at a citroen/pug breakers so theyre not right bothered, think theyve just been told thats whats up with it....

    If theres oil in the water expansion tank - looks like chocolate mousse type muck -then its the oil cooler failure, often wrongly diagnosed as head gasket failure. Its a 3-4 hr job to fix but will need the pipes flushed alot as the oil will break them down and they may fail later

    Ye the autoboxes on these are a complete nightmare , mine went and ended up scrapping the car
