Should be in your manual (haven't got mine to hand as it's in the car). It's around 35pis front and 36psi rear iirc. Varies a bit with different engines I think. It's certainly not 51, that's just the maximum the tyre can take.

    For your 1.8 vectra...

Tyre pressure with up to 3 adults is 32 psi front and rear..

tyre pressure fully laden is 33psi front and 42 psi rear..

51 PSi is the maximum design pressure for that tyre, not what you should inflate it to..

If you did put 51psi in it would be a very hard ride, you would feel every bump..

51psi that would hurt driving along. Might as well have no suspension and solid tyres :-)

My brother used to work at Michelin in S-O-T in the Truck retread section.
They had a room for testing over-inflating tyres.

The walls in this room were v.thick!!

My handbook said 38 in front and 36 in rear. When I run them at this the steering is light and slightly vague.
At the weekend I put them down to 34 front and 32 rear and the car is much happier round the bends now. It feels more "connected" on the road so I aint putting them up to 38/36 again.
