    Default auto dim mirror

    Hi

Is my auto dim mirror working right.
I have the one with the light that shines on the dash and the light sensor on the bottom of the mirror.

In day light it is clear as expected
At night with no light on mirror it is darker than it is during the day
With light on mirror it goes very dark as expected

Should it be darker at night with no light on sensor.

It has probable always been like this and i have only just noticed.?

Sounds about right to me. To be honest, I'd expect it to either work or not.

I'm not so sure it does darken at night with no dazzle.

What colour do headlights look in the mirror when they're not dazzling (ie cars in a different lane maybe)? They should be the same as they are through the window - ie normal white. When they're dazzling the mirror makes them go green as it dims.

Interesting. Mine definitely is untinted at night when there's no bright headlights behind, or put into reverse gear.

You don't say what year your Vectra is. Mine is a early 2004 (pre-facelift). If yours is a post facelift model, then it's probable that the mirror changed too.

    Default mirror

    Hi all

thanks for taking time to reply.

Could one of you please check during the day by covering the rear and front sensors to see if it darkens a bit between front sensor coverd and uncovered.
Front being sensor at back of mirror.

As said if i cover mine with finger and thumb it darkens and if front sensor uncovered if clears totaly in daylight.

It stays clear until I take my finger off the front sensor, then it goes green.

I wonder if a small amount of light is getting through to the front sensor on yours somehow, which is causing it to dim slightly?
