Default Review: Autoglym SRP, New Formulation

Britain's favourite AIO polish has been reforumlated, or rather the trade version(Radiant Wax) has been repackaged for the retail market. I bought the 1lt Bottle(with Free Autoglym Hi-Tech Finishing Cloth) from Halfords. Very reasonably priced at £12.79 as the 500ml bottle is £10.99.

    Description:

Super Resin Polish imparts an exceptionally high gloss shine to all types and colours of automotive paintwork. Super Resin Polish is easy to use and contains specialised emulsifiers and conditioners to gently clean and condition paintwork. Low molecular weight resins harden and bond to give exceptional protection and cosmetic effect. Treated high gloss surfaces are highly resistant to deterioration from most environmental contaminants and weather conditions including UV light.
Ideal for all types of new or moderately deteriorated automotive paintwork including metallics, waterbased and lacquered finishes.

    Instructions:

Wash vehicle with Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner. Shake well. For best results use on a cool, clean, dry surface with an Autoglym perfect palm applicator or a cotton polishing cloth. Apply polish to the applicator and use in a light circular motion, finishing in straight lines to give even coverage. Increase pressure to to remove haze or scratches. Apply to individual panels or the entire body and allow the residue to dry before lightly buffing with a microfibre cloth (an Autoglym Hi-Tech Finishing Cloth is ideal)

    Product:

Autoglym have just revamped the entire retail Range but the bottles are still the same with the easily recognisable Red AG Square. A quick sniff test confirms that it smells the same, looks the same and the feels the same as the as the out going formula.

    Application:

After washing and drying I applied the polish using Autoglym's Soft Red HD applicator pads. I like these and have yet to try AG Palm Applicator Pads.

Now a lot of people complain about the amount of dust residue that is left over when you buff the dry polish. Personally I put this down to over application of the product but AG have apparently listened to this complaint and the new formula boasts less dusting. Keen to test this claim I applied it very thickly.

Now sorry for the pics, but white polish on a silver car was never going to stand out as well as on Sapphire Black or Ultra Blue.

Even considering I was applying it thickly is still spread evenly and easily, just like the previous product.

Product dried off very quickly even considering the Temp was only 7 degree's.

    Removal:

WOW!!! Now AG SRP has always been an Easy On, Easy Off product, but sorry this new formulation comes off even easier than it did before. Virtually no drag from the buffing cloth, and absolutely no dusting at all!!!!

    Overall Impressions:

The best just got better IMHO. As easy on as before, but clearly easier to remove than before, so no complaints here then. AG are also saying that the improved formulation beads like a wax and has exceptional durability. Unprotected AG SRP normally only lasts about 2 weeks so it would be interesting to see how true this claim is. Might do a separate test on this claim on the wife's car. AG SRP has always been a main stay for car enthusiasts, and I cant see that changing any time soon. If you've not tried it for a while id defiantly recommend you try it again soon.

    Thanks mate, great write up.

I have been an AG fan for a while now, and wholly recommend their products. This will certainly be in my arsenal by the weekend
