    Default Momentum vs V power

NowI have only ever used V power in my 2.0T since I got it (som 15k miles ago), however I tried some of the Tesco Momentum as we have some 10p per ltr off vouchers.

My car actually feels better on the Tesco momentum compared to the V power, although it does seem to be drinking the fuel a little faster.

I am on my second tank now and will fill up again next week with the Tesco stuff.

Anyone else found this to be the case with their cars?

I used nothing but Momentum (99 ron) in mine from the day I bought it until we moved to where we are now and the car was always superb on it. I generally run it on BP Ultimate (97 ron) these days out of pure laziness (two BP garages within a couple of miles and Tesco about 3 or 4 miles away).

Occasionally I fill up with a couple of tanks of Momentum and there is a difference definitely. I remember watching a program on telly, (might have been fifth gear) that did a test and proved that the 99 ron fuel DID give a very slight power increase in turbo cars especially if tuned, but next to no difference in non performance cars.

V power is 99 Ron too. Am watching this with interest as I've only ever put in Vpower since I got the vec last July. May try Momentum at some point and see if there is any difference. And yes I know being N/A there will virtually no difference in performance. Did I read that Momentum has silicon or such in it?

I remember that. When they said 'performance cars' weren't they trialing it on a rally spec Impreza? So (in Vectra terms) if you own a VXR, GSI or heavily tuned 2.0T it's worth it, but the gain is negligible on a stock 2.0T or anything else.

I'm trying the V-Power diesel. Same MPG, no real performance gain, less money in the bank.

I see a repeat of an old fifth gear the other day, and they had test with premium diesel fuel, and the reslut was that premium fuel gave
6-8 bhp more.. I normally put a premium diesel in my 300bhp+ RRS..

I use to use the V power derv fuel all the time in my tuned Fabia VRs, and my old BMW 123d.

I obviously moved to V power petrol when my job changed and I got the Veccy. I was supposed to use it in the Type R GT I had on lease for 2 years prior but never did lol - wasnt my car.

I have to be honest and say I am acually quite surprised with the car on momentum, far more responsive. I will give it another tank as previously posted, and then switch back to V power and see if it behaves the same.

I thought V Power was 98 RON - I use Momentum myself but have had to use V Power and others where it's all that's available and never really noticed a difference. When I wen't on the camping trip up north last year, in some places I couldn't get Super at all, then I did notice a difference.

I'm sure the ECU adjusts after doing some measurements on the fuel because when I went from super -> standard and from standard -> super, the car ran like crap for a couple of miles then seem to go back to normal again. it doesn't do this at any other time than when changing fuels for some reason.

It could just be my imagination though!
