mind you my question was "why do you get rid of your car?" so i suppose we are going a bit off topic
THIS IS WHAT I THOUGHT
MY ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION WOULD BE ITS NOT WORTH SPENDING ANYMORE ON IT SO ITS GOING
I BROUGHT A VECTRA B WITH 8000 MILES ON THE CLOCK I RAN IT UP TO 114000 MILES GEARBOX WENT BYE BYE CAR
THE CAR WAS ONLY WORTH 300 QUID
I AM ONLY TOO HAPPY TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE OUT HERE IF I HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCES
THE REASON I HAVE HAD MY VECTRA C FOR 6 YEARS NOW IS THANKS TO THE HELP ON HERE. I THINK THIS FORUM IS GREAT
THERE ARE MANY KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE ON HERE AND ITS GOOD TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM
Have to agree with you Vectra_Ste, I think my Vectra would have been long gone if it wasnt for the forum and the help I have had.
Bit like my "should England go independent" thread
ITS TO PAINFULL TO WATCH I TURN IT OFF
I COME ON THIS FORUM
It is the prime objective of forums to welcome new members and assist with problems concerns and share the praise. that is why we are here and that is really what any of us will do if we have a problem.
e.g. I had an issue with my old Navman, I went to Google and it found me a site that is dedicated to Navman equipment.
I see this as fine and have no issue with advising assisting or otherwise helping anyone, and if I had won the Euromillions £162m I swear on my daughters life, I would have sent everyone on here with car problems quite a few quid to fix their cars as well as life is nothing if we can't help one another. Sadly I didn't win, so your all on yer todd's!
as others have said- not everybody is a tech nor know all the niggles and down right horrors that a vec can have.
since joining this site I've learned to do a filters and oil service, changed a thermostat, fitted spring insulators/sleeves, fixed the sticking bonnet and failed miserably at gettin the EGR out to clean it.
I wouldn't have known where to start before I nosed round the site and asked silly question after silly question.
I'm just glad the goodwill hadn't ran out before I joined!!!!!
I don't think the good will has run out. My previous comments have be with regard to people slagging off a car/model/manufacturer because they bought an old/cheap car and it needs work.
Personally i have never sold a car other than wanting a change. Ive regretted selling a few of those cars, but have never sold one knowing there is a problem with it.
Anyway, thats been a great discussion point!! maybe we should discuss things less sensitive?
Lets talk about religion, politics, should Scotland be independant, how much profits the Banks are making. You know, important things....
To be fair, I stumbled across the forum whilst looking for a car and only joined when I bought a Vectra. I could have been on a Pug forum or a Blue Oval forum, but alas I am here. People use forums for different reasons, some as you have said, just as I have a problem and need a fix it place, others have built good friendships, which you can see in the postings.
And thats enough from me.
i can understand your point mate. I guess MOST people end up joining a forum like this, when you develop a problem with the car and need help from seasoned pro's.
thants how i joined all the forums so far.
BUT.... i then try and help in return and pass on help to others.
But i guess you're always going to get those who "join, take, and leave"
