    Default i hate my vectra

    hi to one and all

please can someone give some help before i leave my car in a field

i have the 2003 2.0dti which has been a complete nightmare since day 1
i now have the common fault of a stuck bonnet
i have tried all the tricks susch as mate pushing on the bonnet as i pull the cable
i have removed the grill (very satisfying to be allowd to smash part of the car)
but still im unable to get access to the spring and release mech
i followed dave g's thread with pics but must be a completely different car as mine looks nothing remotely similar
so my question is has somebody actually got a solution other than opening the fuel cap and inserting a rag !! (which will be done by the end of today).

    please please please help
    cheers

If you pull the release lever and keep it pulled up, then get someone to bang the middle of the bonnet with a palm of a hand just above where the catch is. Should pop up. Never failed for me.

Might be a good idea to put your problem in the title of your post. you might get more help that way rather than slag your car off (which happens to be 8-9 years old and I am assuming has high mileage because its a diesel). Also posting in the right section would help as well, can a mod move this thread

Whats that got to do with the bonnet being stuck?

Can happen to a newer petrol car as well.

Dont see the point in saying that!

sorry getting a bit annoyed at people slagging their car off when there is a fault. I was just pointing out is wasnt a new car (petrol or diesel).

Does the cable run along the inside of the wing? This happened in my last car which was an mg zt. I removed the wheel arch liner then managed to get my hand up inside far enough to grab the cable with some mole grips and pull hard whilst a mate pulled the bonnet up. It worked!

Not sure if it would work on a vectra tho?
