Well like the title says i'd just like to say a massive thank you to Anthony. After posting the issue I had with my service I had done by a vauxhall garage and them putting in the wrong oil, anthony offered to help me out and put the correct oil in.

Me not having a clue where to find the filter or drain cap, it was great to learn some new things and now I will have a go at it myself in 6 months time. We also found out that the garage didn't even put a genuine vauxhall oil filter in, makes me wonder what my £130 went on.

He also ran a diags on the car with no problems being found.

I was advised to get my brake fluid changed and maybe my 2 year old thermostat might need changing as it was taking a while for the temp gage to move.

So it was a very imformative day and if it wasn't for this great site with great members with their advise and help I'd be very poor by now taking my car to the garage.

Yep, when ant took the filter cap off the filter didn't come away with it, when we put the VX filter in it clicked in position, I would say i couldn't believe it but then this is a garage that thought my vec was an astra.

Why not, I'm going to St Ives at the end of may so I will be getting my brakes done before I go, probably get them done next month after pay day. I'm sure we can sort something out

    Hey Mate.

Was a pleasure... and a nice car you have there..

Certainly didnt look and 'feel' like a Gen filter. There was no markings on the filter and the gen one I put in had all the markings stamped on the top. The one we took out didnt 'fit' into the filter housing lid as it was supposed too - it was too loose, the one I replaced it with (gen) snapped and clicked home..

    All done now anyway.

All good - and let me know when you want the rest of the work done.. No worries..

Chris (chrisvectra) still trying to clear Friday for you - let you know ASAP... I have one meeting thats proving impossible to move at the mo
