Dual Mass To Solid Flywheel Conversion Kits

Hi Guys
MY DMF is starting to rattle on idle now so started looking at options. One thing ive read about is you can pay out for the DMF and new clutch, then 3000 miles later you can have the problem again!
Anyhoo been searching the net and found this:

I didn't know anyone had produced a solid flywheel conversion yet, but i have heard that fitting one can put extra stress on transmission bearings and it is possible to feel engine vibrations through the car.
I would of thought that a new DMF and clutch would come with at least 12 months/ 12000 miles warranty. My Veccy has covered almost 114k miles and is still on the original DMF, quickly touches the wooden table for luck!!!!!!!

I've got a solid flywheel conversion in my pug 406 hdi. Yes I haven't had to change it in 3 years, but I wouldn't advise it, the smoothness of the engine has gone. Transmission rattle on start and stop now, need to depress clutch to stop this.
If I was keeping the car I would stick a DMF back in it, was so much better before I converted it.

Puts extra strain on the gearbox and crankshaft. Heard MPG has been lost too as the solid flywheels are heavier than the DMF's

I heard some people just have the tired DMF welded together to create a light weight dmf.

Not sure how that affects mpg or vibrations though.

I always dip the clutch when starting and stopping as it save the clutch (allegedly)

If you swap to a solid flywheel, it would be wise to increase the weight slightly for smoother running.

If anyone.. keep an eye on LUK and Sachs.. not dont as yet but sure it wont be long. Borg & Beck are another firm doing a few solid conversions for other vehicles

I'm told that iif the engine/transmission was designed for the DMF then convertion to a solid flywheel is not recommended due to loss of ride quality and an extra stress on the gearbox
But as we know DTi engines with f23 gearboxes were originally designed for solid flywheel and found in older Opel/Vauxhalls (Vectra B) then slightly changed and put into Vec C.I've read about people running their Vec C DTIs with solid flywheels and no difference compared to the DMF
