    Default New tyres

Hi all getting 4 new tyres on the car this thursday (goodyear eagle f1 asymetric 2)

Now my standard size is 215/50/17, but it was a good bit cheaper to fit 215/45/17, the man said that would be fine to put them on, speedo might be out a bit but thats okay.

Just lookinf for confirmation on this?

    will 215/45/17 be okay yeah?

    Cheers

    Cheers mate.

Done a quick search on here and people kept mentioning 225/45 instead of 215/45, is there much difference? lol

yes, it's 225/45 people swap to, not 215/45. I think there's a link to a rolling radius calculator in a sticky somewhere in one of the tyre sections here.

The recommended alternate size for the 215/50/17 is 225/45/17, not 215/45/17.

Fitting 215/45/17 instead could cause insurance complications for you if an eagle eyed assessor spotted it in the event of any claim.

    EDIT...

    a 215/50 has a rolling radius of 203.20cm compared to the 215/45 of 196.44cm
With this combination your speed will be 3.3% less than indicated
    • When your speedo reads 30mph you will actually be doing 29mph
    • When your speedo reads 60mph you will actually be doing 58mph

tyres will fit for deffo but thats the difference as listed above
