Default Looking at buying another vec, but.......

Ive seen one that seems too cheap, and the guy openly admits he does buy cars from auction for a living and sells on, it has got a few marks and and scratches and new plastic round wing mirror. But my questions are, on a 55 plate facelift sri will it be vvti, and it has 95k on clock on a 1.8 petrol, is there anyting to be warey about? Its had cambelt done but anything else? And would it put you off knowing the above about auctions... and would you hpi? Its only 2400 with 12 month tax which i think is pretty good. Thanx in advance

Personally I would steer clear of an auction car. Thats just me tho. scratches and marks and part of the wing mirror missing would put me right off as it shows its not been very well looked after and if there the bits you can see what about the bits/parts you can't

My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

To be honest, by the sounds of it you'd have been better keeping your previous one. Looked mint in the pics I saw of it!

The ones I have been looking at have been 2006 facelift 1.8 petrol SRi's. The going rate in a dealer would seem to be just about £4k at the moment. If he can afford to sell it at £2400 and make a profit, I'd be wondering why it was so cheap even at auction, and what was wrong with it.

Its not for auction, it is 2400 to buy cash. No bidding.... and yes the cam belt had a reciept from a proper shop. My pre face was nice but was bored to tears of it. And the facelift is a different drive and look.

I understand that you would be buying as a straight sale. I just meant that you have to remember that he admits he bought it at auction, so obviously must have picked it up for a few hundred quid less.

As long as its checked out on HPI I'd be willing to buy an auction car...

Some garages just dont put higher mile cars they have taken as PX on the forecourt so its not necesarily that its a bad car that it was auctioned.
