Default 2.0 DTI In line Oil Filter On Turbo Feed

Hi, I am just about to fit my second turbo in six months due the the bearing becoming damaged. The shaft play on the last failure is hidious.

I was wondering if anybody has fitted an in line filter on the oil feed to the turbo. This would ensure that clean oil was getting to the turbo and protect the bearing from any debris that has come adrift after the main oil filter.

I did a quick search and there's loads of in line filters out there, I guess a 40 micro filter would do it .

Anybody know the thread size on the oil outlet from the block to the feed tube for the turbo ?

    Thanks for any replies..

    Vehicle : Focus

    Trim : Titanium

    Engine : 1.6 TDCI

    Year : 62

    Mileage : 9K

Shouldnt need an inline filter if the oil was clean.

I would drain and flush the engine, then renew with vx oil and new filter.

And change oil regually after that, like every 5k with new filter.

sorry cant help with the size of thread your after. But sounds like the engine is very dirty to keep blowing turbos.

Need to fix the problem, not fight fire.

Yeah, you're right, need to change the oil more regularly, the engine is high mileage now 135K, so I guees there's loads of crud built up in there. Could be the brand of oil filter I use actually, might not be that good, am going to try a differnt one see how long the turbo lasts !

    Thanks...
