Won't your own insurance cover it? - either automatically or ringing them to cover it for the time it's in?

I've taken numerous vehicles in for work by various dealers and although they ask for my driving license for the insurance they have never asked for any money
I took my works van in last week for instance and was given a brand new Peugeot (300 miles) for however long the repairs took. No money asked for!

If you take your own insurance docs, they will phone your insurance company and get the courtesy car put on it for the day. Or you as a person can be put on their insurance for a small amount for the day.

You're not covered on your own insurance unless its fully comprehensive cover for ANY vehicle. Very few people have this. You're generally covered to drive other cars with 3rd party only cover even if you're comprehensively insured on your own.

Most dealers now operate in this way as they know they won't have to fork out if you stick their courtesy car through a wall.

The courtesy car is provided as just that, a courtesy. They are under no obligation to give you one so the £6 sounds pretty reasonable if a little skinflintish on their part.

Fair enough Ross if it was a service or something, but a recall?

They are recalling them for either timing belt or wireing harness. This one is wiring harness. I'll try and find the national recall number so you can call them.
