Hi.
My cdti 150's is making a louder whitle/whine sound from cold at about 1300 rpm to 1700rpm. It gradually quietens when it warms up. Sounds a bit like blowing over the top of a bottle/siren sound. Still drives fine and pulls well with no lights on dash.
I have taken off the aux belt and run it to see if it was still there to eliminate the alternator/AC and drive pulleys. And the noise is still there so it can only be the turbo or poss cam belt tensioner/waterpump. The belt and tensioners and waterpump were changed about 45000 miles ago.
If it is the turbo should I be worried or can I just carry on driving it? Or is it something I must get sorted immediately. I have found new turbos for sale on ebay for around £480 which I havn't got at the moment.
I was wondering if there was a possibility of it breaking up and then being drawn into the engine. Or this was a very unlikely outcome and the noise would just slowly get worse and I could just carry on driving it.
cheers
Stuart
