little help please guys after reading through the tech help section i cant seem to work out which i have a issue with be it boost pipes or the EGR

car starts fine,

had a engine sign with a spanner once but not seen it since only stayed on for about 5 seconds

i pull up to a roundabout and go to pull away and first gear seems slow but second is sluggish 3rd is not to bad seems to be a issue between 1k and 2.5k revs

it seems to be lagging between 1k and 2.5k revs

i have also just had the front flexi joint changed about a week ago if this has anything to do with it

the engine is a 1.9 cdti 06 plate vectra

well it would apear t hat gear has nothing to do with it and its really just the rev range

pulls away fine still in first tho

but no power between 1k and 3 k

engine light has come on a few more times now

normally after ive been driving for about 5 minutes and stays on for 5 minutes then goes out

exhaust light came on today while on the way to work and only went off when i turned ignition off

could this be a issue to do with the fact that the flexi pipe at the front was changed ie its to small not letting enough air out the engine ?

Start by putting some of the bp ultimate diesel or equivalent (shells Vpower) in for a few tanks and see if it makes any difference.

had the altornator changed about 2 months ago and seem to remember the engine bay being cleanish

i popped the bonnet today to check the boost pipes were all ok and couldnt see any real faults or wear and tear

but i did notice that the engine bay now has a sligh brown tinge to it

any thoughts?

certainly wouldn't do any harm, personal favourite is millers but my personal feeling is once you can clear the crud out running the premium fuel keeps it clear.

What mileage has the car done?
Try cleaning your EGR and boost sensor. (Check the how to section).

Mine did this, I took off all of the vacume pipes to the turbo to check them, all seemed ok so put them back then the car worked fine, not quite shure what it was but it seems ok for now.
