confused 55 plate Signum 1.8 (facelift) loosing coolant somewhere

I hope someone can help me.

I have recently over the past few months i have been getting the collant light coming on the dash saying it is low. After checking shure enough its about an inch under the cold mark, so i top it up. About 2 - 4 weeks later it comes on again so i do the same again. Whilst this has been happening i have noticed that my exhaust emissions light has been on now and again but goes off after a while. Engine to my knowledge still has original water pump and belts but i cant be 100% shure about this. I look forward to any help you guys and gals can give. I just hope its not gonna be the head gasket.

    Regards

    Jonathan

You need a coolant pressure test to find the leak which maybe a simple pin hole in a hose or radiator which under pressure leaks.

Take the expansion tank off and have a look at the back for a hairline crack. Very common fault and only £20ish from VX to replace. You can also do the Pedal Test to see what codes lie behind the EML light.

ok cheers for the tips. will do this at the weekend as wife has the car all week. The code for the eml is 0170 exhaust emissions lean or something to that effect, have been advised to try a new mass air flow meter for that.
