Default MP3 files - computer to phone.

My daughter has a shed load of music on her computer and wants to put it on her phone, an Alcatel OT-799.

On the computer, the music files are in Windows Media Player, all in MP3 format. When they're transferred to to the phone, they appear on the phone as WMA files and the phone then says "wrong format".

Never had this problem on her previous phone, a Samsung, so where are we going wrong?

Maybe if they showing as WMA files, which should be supported by the Alcatel:

Might be worth getting a file convertor like ojo soft and convert the files and see if that'll work,

Also how are you transferring to the phone? sync cable or copying to memory card?

If you're doing it by cable and doing the copying from Windows Media Player then it sounds like WMP is wrongly converting them to WMA format which that phone doesn't support given the specs in Yenyaw's link. It only supports MP3, AAC and AAC+.

You need to chose in the settings of WMP not to automatically convert on transferring to a connected device.
