Default Beware - Posting links to autotrader

Not sure this has been mentioned or not but...

when you post links for autotrader you might want to use a different post code.

I've seen a few links now where the members postcode is in the link.

Anyone can then see what car you have and if you have nice wheels etc.. and then know what street you live on.

It has been mentioned before but always good to remind people about it. As you say if people post a link to a car after searching within xx miles of a postcode, it keeps the post code in the link. i.e.
    Code:
    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201206448378561/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/signum/make/vauxhall/postcode/sw1a1aa/page/1/radius/100/quicksearch/true?logcode=p
where you can see the SW1A 1AA postcode - the London residence of a certain well known lady.

That link was from clicking on a specific search result to then show the car, in this case a Signum 1.9CDTi. To post up the link to the specific car without showing the postcode simply requires all the code after the long number to be removed...

    Code:
    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201206448378561
...and that shows the car without any reference to a post code.

Alternately just use one that AT offer for overseas surfers.

    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/common/m..._postcodes.jsp

If you are visiting from abroad, you can use the postcodes of some of our regional offices:
    • Motherwell, Scotland - ML1 2DA
    • Leeds, Yorkshire - LS9 8AL
    • Bristol - BS32 4NF
    • London - SW19 3RQ
    • Southampton, Hampshire - SO15 0HX
Or just use your neighbours, ex-wife, or worst enemy's postcode

Depends on how far away your neighbour lives from you.

If you have a look at my 'looking for love' thread

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=157262

You can clearly see my AutoTrader links with the post code B4 6NQ

Type 'B4 6NQ' into Google as see what address it gives you
