    Default Tyres???

I have 4 rubbish Sunny tyres that were put on the Vectra when I bought it. I think the fronts are getting near to needing replacing and I was wondering what tyres people can recommend. I started to look into it just now but there are SOOO many choices.

I mainly do motorway miles so wear is quite important, however I would of course still like decent wet and dry grip. Probably more wet grip to be honest seeing as it rains nearly everyday here!

So, who can recommend what please? Thanks in advance.

Ive just had 4 x Uniroyal Rainsport 2's fitted, and im really impressed with them. So much Grip in the wet compared to other tyres i have had (on previous cars)Only had them on for 400miles, so cant say on wear.

They wasnt the cheapest of tyres though.

    Best tyres I've ever had.

Camskill seem to be the cheapest, then get someone nearby to fit them for beer money.

My previous Rainsports had 4 or 5 mm of tread remaining after 16,000 miles on the front, before being moved to the rear.

How horrific were the sunnys? Every now and again a budget tyre is actually ok - as I found with Federals..

Have a look at the Autoexpress Tyre Test.
The 2 all season tyres, tested with the Winter Tyres, may be a good way to go.

Goodyear NCT5's on the front being the drive wheels. Maxxis MAV1's on the rear. Maxxis been on 18 months and covered 31k with loads of wear left, still look fairly new. Goodyears been on a year and done 26k, reckon they should last till the end of the year.

i ordered 2 tyres of camskill , then struggled to find anyone to fit them , national turned me away as did a few other places in the end paid £16 a tyre to be fitted , so you got to do the maths depending on what tyres you want , i think the big companies dont like this practice at all cos they not making nothing on the sale of a tyre

I would phone a local independant and ask them to quote for the tyres only then a seperate price for fitting and tell them camskills price and ask them to match it. if they say they can't ask them to fit them for the price they quoted just before.
most places I've used charge 10quid a wheel to fit and balance and i usualyy give them an extra 5quid if they swap the fronts to the rears for me.

I've now got a mate who sells tyres for stapletons so I'm hoping my next set will be cheaper than camskills by a long way ;-)
