    Default Cold start problems?

Has anybody managed to find the solution to the cold start issues that seem to plague the 1.9 120 and I think 150?
I've found so many suggestions ranging from EGR to leaky injectors to air leaks in the fuel line.
My car seems to be getting worse.
My thermostat is knackered, but I doubt that would cause it. Otherwise, it runs sweet as a nut.

Have you done any diagnosis yet on the glow system or fuel?

Cursory checks for the obvious. I've replaced the glow plugs and the glow plug relay. Fuel and air filter, DMF, clutch, cambelt, auxbelt all changed.
All error codes cleared and no errors return.

I would highly recommend changing the thermostat, It must be linked obviously because if you disconnect the wire the engine will run Fast when started!. Replacement cant guarantee a cure but it has to be ruled out, Another lesson ive learnt is to replace glow plugs with the same factory type IE if they come with ngk try to replace with the same part.

Yes cheap plugs are a nightmare and you can swap one plug but better to do all 4.

The the coolant temp sensor will tell the ecu the engine is cold this thermostat needs changing, might be worth a new temp sensor too.

    It does have NGK.
Right, as soon as I can I'll change the thermostat and see what's what. Fingers crossed

Had hell starting the car last night. Lots of cranking and a thin cloud of smoke from under the bonnet (starter motor straining?)
This morning I primed the glow plugs appx 5 times before starting and it was much better.
I'm thinking the plugs aren't getting to an adequate temperature. Already had new plugs and relay.
I wonder if I can put a relay off another car on that will heat the plugs hotter; I reckon that might fix the problem once and for all.
