    confused Inter coolers

Do you think that a TX Autosports upgrade inter cooler kit that fit's a 02 to 05 would fit a 07 I've asked them but they don't know I said the only differents is the front wings bonnet lights and bumper so I reckon that it should fit this is for a 1.9 cdti 150

it will give you no benefit, but may induce lag... your best with the factory intercooler unless your knocking out 300bhp or more

I'd imagine so, may just require more cutting of the front bumper

I do think that the factory inter cooler is in the wrong place inbetween the rad and condensor with the AX Autosports one it's straight in front of the lower grill of the bumper so that you are having cooler air runing thought it . But didn't spoon fit a differnt inter cooler on his cdti but I don't know whant gains he got or any losses with it

I'd rather a stone went and burst my a/c condensor, rather than burst my intercooler and have my turbo doing overtime

After market intercoolers are better made and are stronger than your factory ones as the standard one are built for standard bhp and bit more and there's no plastic on them so they are not going to split

I'm sorry Nige but I have to disagree. On the 1.9CDTI, a big front mounted intercooler will make noticeable and recordable difference. The diesels run much higher standard pressures than petrols, resulting in high charge temps and as soon as you start to tune, those just continue to climb. The intercooler I use is 75mm deep, the same width as the standard unit and a couple of inches shorter. The difference to torque output was very marked after fitting. Having a front mounted intercooler, I have felt it while standing still, then reved the engine to get the boost up for a short time and felt it again; the top of the intercooler was almost too hot to keep my hand on and that is no where near operating pressures for mine (probably near those of a standard setup but with a larger compressor which would not heat the air as much).

Refering specifically to the TX intercooler, it is quite small and would offer little benifit over a standard unit. It is big enough to support 350lbft with a 52mm compressor though as I fitted a 52mm to a Saab and a tiny FMIC at the same time, resulting in those figures.

BSR remaps do tend to raise the boost pressure as well as fueling unlike stage on EDS maps. So a more effective intercooler would benifit you. 65mm is about the largest intercooler you can fit without removing the aircon heat exchanger.
