Default Can I put different size tyres on my signum?

Just wondering if it is possible to put different size tyres on current wheels? I have a 1.9 (150) Signum with 225 /45 /18 tyres. The price of tyres for this size is stupid!! Also never seems to be as much choice out there for the size.
Can I put another size onto the same wheel, which is more common and better price?

    Cheers
    G

I would have thought they should be 225 40 18 tbh as 225 45 is what goes on a 17" rim- therefore I assume 225 45 18 making your rolling radius too large- if i reckon right..................

an expert will confirm or dismiss my theory shortly lol

I have 225/40/18 on my Vectra and they were about £30 cheaper than the size above.

The OP is right, they should be either 225/45's or 235/40's but they're both more expensive than 225/40

I didn't know the signum had a bigger radius than the vec- hence waiting for an expert ;-)

    must be a weight thing....????

or is it to make the ride smoother????

225/45/18 is vx's correct size for 18" rims. 225/40/18 are really a little too small so I used to fit 235/40/18 when I could.

Signum or vec, it makes no difference.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Thanks for your thoughts guys, so 235/40/18's would work ok then?

As I said too, 235/40 but I went for 225/40 as they're cheaper (paid £80 for falkens rather than £110). Up to you really though
