Default Torn between vxrs. Astra or vectra?

Well after much deliberation of wanting a new car Ive nailed it down to two. I did fancy a focus st but something is just steering me clear. Ive test drove an astra vxr and it was great but didn't even consider the vectra as Ive had two (sris) but looking at the insurance the veccy is about 60 quid dearer so not too bad. Now Ive never driven a veccy one so Dont know what there like.

The astra is big enough for us but i do like a big car. The tax is a big thing too. 425??vs 260.

Does anyone know what difference there is in fuel consumption? Would the vectra be alot worse?

    Cheers guys.

My stage 1 Vectra returns an average of 27mpg, on a run it will return 34 ish.

I see many Astra VXR's, can't remember the last time I saw a Vectra VXR on the road, lots of car for the money.

Yes the tax is high, but it's more than worth it

The Veccy tax is £445 now if you buy one thats registered after March 06

It works out 51p extra a day to tax, so hardly a great amount that some keep going on about on here

I test drove the Astra VXR before my bought my Veccy VXR and it's not a patch on the Veccy IMO

I've also had two other Veccy's (2.2 SRi and a 3.2 V6 GSi), the VXR is in a different league and feels like a different car IMO

Test drive one and I'm sure it will make your mind up for you

I think i may choose astra, as you can sell on alot easier been a hot hatch, and cheaper tax, with the trusty 2.0 turbo engine.. vectra vxr are lovely cars too but hard to sell on for some reason as not alot of folk can afford to run them especially after 2006 model. Friend had a mint 09 plate one ended up selling for 3 k less then he wanted and really what it was worth as he wasnt getting one phonecall

Mate leigh with a astra vxr says the vectra is a better car over all. He says the vectra feels a better quality

i agree with maf (again) .i am fortunate to have a works vehicle,so that kept the cost down,so used it as a weekend car mainly.in a way i miss mine, but driving the insignia compensates for the loss
