    Default DMF failure!

Well, after my alternator died a few months ago, my DMF has started to rattle like a pig.

It's now in the local VX garage awaiting Warranty Direct to authorise the work (should be interesting to see if this goes as smooth as the alternator work).

    So now my cars had:

New Manifold and EGR (previous owner)
    New Alternator
    New Rear Springs
    Third Injector wiring Loom

and soon to be new DMF.

I think that's all the common faults now isn't it???

front springs go more than back I though? You have a DPF on an 07 estate don't you, that could block. MAP faults are not too uncommon. Does that make you feel better? Are you replacing the clutch at the same time?

Don't know how fussy folk are regarding rattles around their cars but I've lived with a rattly DMF for longer than I can remember...has to be 20-30k miles. After my alternator failed at the weekend I have decided to bite the bullet and change the DMF & clutch before I run out of luck seeing as it's got to 160k. Oh ..also need a thermostat as well. Might as well get it all done at the one time.

lol, yeah front springs are what normally go...and **** I forgot about the dpf.. not had an issue with it up to know but if it goes it will be getting bashed and mapped out.

As for the clutch, I;ve asked them to do that as well.

They asked vx to send pics! VX have confirmed the DMF has gone and are waiting the go ahead from WD (who have asked VX for prices for non genuine parts!).

Will let you know how it goes. The alternator was changed quickly and without a single chase up from me.
