Default What would you do (HiD related)...

Now then, I have a HiD out currently, and I have two choice, replace faulty bulb/ballast/kit (and change from my current 8K to 4300/5000K) or go back to standard lights.

Both options will cost about the same to do, both will require the bumper to come off (on my car) - would like to keep HiDs but dont fancy changing HIDs and it failing MOT, while not wanting to go back to standard if it would be ok.

My car has projectors (like a Vectra) and would go to a "normal" colour..... what do you guys think?

Stick a 6K kit in there mate - they're standard on many of the upper market japanese type cars as opposed to the 4300 we use over here...

Stick with the HIDs. Having tried 4300, 5000 and 6000k bulbs I can highly recommend the 5000k ones for the whitest purest light.

I found the 4300's yellowish and was unimpressed, I was expecting them to be white. I moved up to 5k soon after and it was exactly what I was looking for, pure white light.

Cheers for that, that's what I thought, so 4300K is out (if I did stay with HiDs)

I've recently went from 4300k to 5000k and I find the 4300 whiter as the 5000k I have seem a bit blue.

I love HiD's, but I just couldn't be bothered with the hassle of changing bulbs/ballasts so got some Ring XenonMax. Sorted.

Personally, I'm staying standard (with uprated bulbs) till the MoT situation is clarified, but it depends on how badly you need them. Seems driving on non motorway roads in fog suits HiD better, we don't get much fog here so can't comment.
I don't have a problem with driving on raised beam (as per the mod) with uprated bulbs, but you're further north than me.
