Dont use the 'Automated/biometric passport control' at airports.

After coming back into the coutry via Gatwick there are signs saying about the new 'Automated/biometric passport control' booths to speed you through checkpoint and a woman asking and directing you to the booths.

What a load of rubbish. As we were in that que waiting to go through we were watching others that didnt have the biometric passport who were going through faster than us lol.

After moaning at the passport control guy just after the automated booths he told us the plan is to make redundant most of the human controllers and heading towards a fully automated system.
The woman directing people to the booths is employed by the government and they have no say in her doing it.

So vote with your feet and keep using the normal human passport control.

i would guess the angle is keep people in jobs rather than having an airport full of machines that could slow you down. plus if its seen as working it will most likely be fitted to other forms of transport services.
that again leads to more ppl jobless

I'm sure people will be slow using them the first time. I'm sure I read they had just turned them off at two airports anyways.

I used the ones at Manchester when coming back from Vegas. They are as slow as a week in the jail, I too was watching people just show the passport and go straight through with the manned post.

The autobooth camera takes a while to focus, then goes up/down asks you to stand über still etc etc. I won't use the auto checkers again, waste of time.
