Well Its nearly 3 months of owning the 2.8T so thought I write a quick review.
Absolutly loving it. For me it has just the right about of power altho i'm starting to get used to it, and therefore will hanker after more eventually.
Yes tax is £460 which I had to shell out for at the beginning of Jan. To justify the cost to myself, I say that because my beetle comes under historic tax and therefore is free, so "taxing" 2 cars a year for £460 is not too bad.
I do about 300-350 miles a week, my 2.0T was using about £50 in fuel 95 ron and the 2.8T is using about £65 in fuel 99 ron so only about £11ish more a week. Which again I don't think is too bad.
The car drives beautifully very smooth and when you get to about 4000 rpm the power really starts to come through, and I love the sound of the V6
The biggest difference I've noticed between my 2.0T and the 2.8T and this is not engine related, is the ride. My old one had 19" snowflakes with 30mm drop on Spax springs and the new one is on 18" Evo Stars with i believe has the same 30mm drop on eibachs. The 19's really were bone shakers in comparison to the 18's
One small niggle which I'll get sorted when I get time is that the TC light comes now every time i drive it. I've cleaned the ABS sensor but no difference, I've got a code reader so need to get the codes read and find out whats what.
all in all very pleased that I upgraded.
