Default Vec C 2.2 DTi going into limp mode

Just got a 52 plate Vec C 2.2 DTi, it's not bad but does have it's faults.

The temperature guage doesn't seem to move so I have got a new thermostat here and waiting for my coolant temp sensor to arrive at Vaux.

The main problem is when under acceleration the spanner light will come on and the car will go into limp mode, if I flick the key off and on sometimes it will go out sometimes it wont. I suspect a vacuum problem.

Today I started to strip it down and immediately found a problem with the vacuum pipes, one of them coming out of the vacuum box has a bolt in the end of it?? also the flaps inside the inlet manifold, one of them is smashed.

Does anyone have a diagram of the vacuum system on the 2.2dti vec C as they are different to the vec b's.... I have seen this for the vec b, but as stated they're different to the C http://www.vectra-sport.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=79672

car wont start now since i've put it back together

there doesn't seem to be any fuel getting to the pump, i disconnected the mail line from the filter to the pump and it was bone dry. There is fuel in the filter..... either theres a blockage somewhere or the pump has given up the chase

The DTI has no electric fuel pump in the tank. If you have 'broken' the fuel lines then air will have got in and all the fuel will have run back into the tank.

If this is the case, you need to bleed it - there's a guide to one method of doing this in the How2 section. Don't just turn it over on the starter as this can damage the expensive fuel pump which needs diesel in it for lubrication.

I use a manual squeezy hand priming pump (a few £££ from a motor factor) and a couple of lengths of suitable sized pipe inserted between the fuel filter outlet and the pipe that normally connects into it.
