Default Just done a deal on an Insignia, Good or Bad

Went to the AC motorstore on south street yesterday and done a provisional deal on this car.

    http://www.arnoldclark.com/used-cars...f/arnbj-24174/

Its a Mar 2009, 2.0 CDTI(160) SE, 39k miles. Price agreed was £10k with a 2 year AC Autocare Warranty.

the deal is provisional as the garage never actually had the car , it arrives back from bodyshop on tuesday. Apparently it was away getting a bonnet and bumper respray due to stone chipping. Someone else done a deal on the car but the finance never went through.

    2 Questions,

Is this a good deal ?

Anybody know where I can find out what the factory spec is of a 2009 SE model, as I believe the recent spec has changed.

    thanks guys

on the advert under the yellow sold sign on the left .

it looks like the price of your car started with an 8 or a 9 .

what was the original price if you got it for 10 grand .

did you haggle on the cars price

The list was £9688. Exc road tax and warranty.
Won't give anything off the car.
Got warranty for 200 odd and road tax was around 80

We're paying cash so no finance to sweeten the deal

if they had refused to " work out " a deal or haggle , based on cash right now ,

i would have left my phone number and walked out .

i'm 99 % sure they would have been back on the phone offering you either the car cheaper or something free like servicing or free warranty for a year or tank of fuel or floor mats .

Do you believe the story about the car being in the body shop ?

You havn't viewed the car so has it really had a small knock , where you could have seen an out of line bumper for example ?

i suppose cash deals are a downer for dealers as there is no interest on a loan to make , therefore no kick back from the finance company .

Cash for you means you can sell your car at any time and you are not locked in an H.P. agreement for years .

I feel sorry for people locked into h.p. agreements and their financial circumstances change for the worse , but they still have to pay the car off , while not being able to sell it or being able to afford the insurance .

I'm inclined to believe the cars ok. As I've really struggled to find many of the same spec at that price. Don't really want to spend another 2-3K for a year old model.

I'll give it a really good going over when I see it on Tuesday. The salesman knows I've seen another one at a competing dealer. So I will happily walk away. I could try and push for a better deal but TBH I dont think he'll budge.

I bought my Vec C in 2003. it was a MY2002 demonstrator with all the toys.
Had lots of niggly problems as it was one of the earlier models. but nothing that put me off the car. this is one of my main worries.

should I just plump up the extra cash and buy a year old model, what specs have been changed on the new models ?

and with that kind of money I could look at a different car. maybe an A4 or a 3 series.

I bought my gsi from machargs and would never buy another car from them no matter how good a deal looks. As they are a supermarket they work to a different rule book from normal branches.
