NCDC2013 rattling

A while ago my NCDC2013 developed a rattle that went on consistently for a few days then would stop for a week or so then start again for a few days - the local VX dealer said it was known fault and replaced the unit FOC under warranty with a supposed modified unit, now after a few months the replacement is doing exactly the same thing

- it is fine for a week or so then waits for you to go on a long run then drives you mad - has anyone else had this problem ?

Have you got kids with access to lose change???
Either that or the common fault is it dismantles itself internaly.

No definately not the kids - fastened down in the back !

On both units it sounds like it's coming from the top CD drive area

No not mine although i can hear the cd access when the doors are unlocked as it keeps accessing the nav cd "tick tick". This is not loud and once the car is started you can't here it.

yep it is the cd cassette thingie...had mine changed last year or so due to rattling... in the end they changed 2 head units and found it to be the cassette thingie..

Gave it a go and guess what! - it is the cd cassette ! - totally silent with it out of the unit.
Problem sorted I thought - off to the dealers for a warranty replacement - Ha - the dealers highly trained representative is of the opinion because it is just a piece of plastic, a new one will be the same so it not worth doing etc etc it's the way they are made you know !!!!

mmmm wonder what VX will have to say about it.
