Default bad shock or weak spring?

hi lads i have the car stripped abroad in the shed i noticed the gap from the wheel to the arch was tighter on one side in the rear and after reading the thread on broken springs i said i better take a look.i took out both springs to have a look at them and they are both the same heigth on the bench and they seem the same when trying to push down on them,i can move both about 3/4 inch,so i think they are fine.then i took out the two shocks and they seem fine, takes a nice bit of pressure to close them and when released they both return the same time, takes about 5 seconds. so now what do i do ?i had to strip the back anyway to change the top control arm on one side so got that done and i changed the camber on both sides to the max aswel because it was eating tyres, its a sxi so sports suspension and its running on 18s oh and i painted the callipers while i was at it .i have the car two years and never new anything about the trouble they have with springs

any ideas would be helpful thanks

Ride height is generally down to the springs, although they are the same height outside of the car and you can push them noth down equally, you will not be able to put the same weight on them as if they were on a car.

One spring appears to be weaker then the other, so I would suggest replacing with a new pair.

Springs should be changed in pairs.. One might be a really old one and the other could be a new one giving a different ride height. ????? Just a thought!

that could be it alright. if i measure from the underside of the wheel arch to the center of the wheel and compare it with someone with a standard sri suspension it should tell me if they are both weak or just one.all i need now is someone who is willing to measure theres for me so i can compare them.please can anyone do this for me it will only take a second.wheel size shouldnt make a difference since we are measuring to the centre.......any takers il buy ya a pint
