car insurance quote on the gsi

well insurance is due in the next 30 days so thought its about time i phoned around for a price so i gave chriss knott a ring went through all the questions told them the few mods ive done then he gave me the price £1300

with 4 years ncb after picking myself back up off the floor from the shock.

i asked why its so much?
answer was the car is left over night on the road!!
now everybody else over the last few mth has been saying that their insurance has shot up as their car is parked on their drive so how can i get charged more for it not being on a drive

also he said i got quoted so much as i lost my job at christmas.

so when i told him we are down sizing in about a mth from a 4 bedroom house to a 3 which has a driveway he asked for a postcode and the price went down by £500 to a more realistic £800 for the year

so if i move house (fair enough im moving to bispham so its a nicer area) but the car will be parked on a drive so this increases the chances of getting the house broke into for the keys
if i do this i might be able to get a even better quote than last years insurance

and as for punishing me as i got layed off at xmas for work thats wrong in my eyes as it means less chance of the car getting nicked as it will not be left all day whilst we are both at work as it stands now i see my car all the time so less chance of it getting nicked

im off to phone octagon who im with now to see what they will offer me

so been on comparson site and it turns out chris knot price is bang on the money hopefully moving on the same day as my insurance is due to be renewed so if thats the case will know nearer the time im going to go with chris knot insurance for around £800 for a year

lol wife hates it were we live house is like a freezer
and to top it off i noticed a mark on my bumper looks like someone has nudged the back of the car
so basically said thats it i want to move i miss my drive and garage from my last house too much
oldest daughter goes bispham high and son is going in september so it makes sense moving their will save £30 a week in bus fare alone

£1300 is nothing compared to my renewal quote at the end of 2010 with Swinton. The first year with them for my GSi was approx £900 then when it came for the renewal it had shot up to £2000

. Nothing had changed from the last time, 33 years old, kept in garage at night and in a secure car park during the day.
When I finally finished laughing at them I said how could they justify the sharp increase and the response was that they had a 200 page document about the rise in premiums and would I like a copy.

Finally went to a different company and got it for £800 fully comp with all the extras
