    Normal mate,

power steering is electro-hydraulic so is run by an electric motor. It puts a big drain on the alternator at low revs so the lights dim slightly.

I think even the big boys with their fancy VXRs and 3.0 CDTis notice this one! Certainly do on my 1.8!

You can improve matters a little bit by adding extra earth wires from the engine block/alternator mount to the battery negative terminal. Ultimately the power steering can draw a hefty amount of current, and if the engine's doing less than 1500rpm, the alternator isn't really supplying a huge amount, so there will be a slight dip in the voltage at the headlights.

But yeah - all Vectra Cs do it, nothing to worry about.

My headlights no longer do it since fitting HIDs. Must be somethingto do with the ballasts operating at any voltage between 9 and 30 volts and stabilising the voltage to stop the dimming when turning the steering wheel.
