    Default Which uprated headlamp bulbs?

    Hi chaps,

Getting a bit fed up with the crappy Vectra headlights (I swear they're worse than they used to be, do bulbs get dimmer over time?!)

Want to put some uprated bulbs in, anyone got any recommendations?

Don't want the expense or hassle of HIDs etc, just a quality set of extra bright bulbs that will be a straight swap.

HIDS are the way forward if you want a massive improvement in visible light on the road, as long as you get a decent set (and not a cheap and nasty set from ebay)

If you are staying with Halogens, Osram Nightbreakers or Ring XenonMax have had good reports from other members.

If you are going down the HID route, choose either 4300k, 5000k, or 6000k colour temperature as any higher than 6000k will likely get you pulled by plod (as they are blue-er than factory fitted HIDS).

For reference (the higher the colour temperature, the dimmer the light):
    4300k Bright White (Brightest)
    5000k Factory Look, White/Ice Blue
6000k White with darker ice blue tint

Also need to point out that HID's need to be Canbus Compatible too

Beleive there is also a headlight mod on the pre-facelift veccies, which raises the beam.

    Cheers chaps,

Think I'm going to go with the nightbreakers as recommended on another thread and by Which? magazine.

H7 is the fit for the Vectra isn't it?

My nightbreakers only lasted 8 months. Waste of money, IMHO.

I got Nightbreaker Plus bulbs over a year ago and both bulbs are still OK. The Plus bulbs are a development of the original ones which did have a reputation for short lifespan.

If I was buying now, I might be tempted to give these 120% brighter Ring Xenon Ultima's a go - http://www.ringautomotive.co.uk/prod....asp?prod=2422.

This was my thinking until I bit the bullet and fitted HIDs... at £55 for the full kit, it's not that much more expensive than these so called brighter bulbs. And no hassle to be honest.
