    Default Cam Belt Change

Any one any views on best time to change cambelt -Service schedule says 80k, but I think that's far too long - I'm at 60k and was intending to do it at service in the next month or so - is it best to change water pump at same time - been quoted £245 at VX dealers for belt kit and pump, which sounds a decent price to me any thoughts please ?

Definitely worth doing the waterpump at the same time, it costs pennies compared to if it had to be done later.

I got my belt done at about 55k on my 1.8, about 5k before the interval according to the info i've got, but you can't be too careful with cambelts.

£245 is a reasonable price for a dealer, but you'll find it much cheaper online or at a motor factors. £85-£120 from Eurocarparts (£85 for the Continental branded one, £120 for SFK)

Pointless doing the waterpump on a vvt on a timing belt swap as its no longer driven off the timing belt on these.

Had my cam belt changed at 60k with service, had a genuine part which would part which would ahve been £100 from dealer with all the tensioners. TBH i would only use genuine parts on something like that !

I am getting mine done tomorrow - £249 fitted - Masterfit are doing some fixed price stuff at moment and didnt think it was too bad. Maybe should have done it sooner as I have 132k on clock and should have been done at 100k - mines a 1.9 CDTI
