Broken Spring
The usual culprit. Vauxhall want £97+VAT for 2 rears...
Anyone ever used www.losuspension.com?
My car is a 2.2 SRi 2003 C - do you reckon these babys will fit?

They seem to list either 1.8/2.0 or 1.9 CDTi or 3.2 V6?
Not 2.2 petrol though...
Got my springs off eBay. £35 for the pair of rears. Fitted myself in 45 mins. Easy job, there's a How2 on here
Yeah I can do it myself tbh with you its not a hard job. Been thinking about lowering it for a while - makes sense to now rather than later! Just dont want to only lower it 15mm lol
Deffo makes sense to lower it now, as the springs need doing. Consider new shockers too maybe?
Ive had springs from losuspension before, had them on the GSi and I was well pleased with them. Not to harsh of a ride and soaked up the speed humps near me quite nicely.Originally Posted by nicky

Are there any suppliers who do replacement standard springs. The receipts I got when I bought it show it had one replaced 2 years ago which does not bode well

Exactly my thoughts! Makes sense rather than waste money on new springs only to take them off again in a couple of months.Deffo makes sense to lower it now, as the springs need doing. Consider new shockers too maybe?
Yeah? Was it not too low? I saw your pics and bear in mind id be on 17s reckon it would make more of a difference?

Just personal preference, a lot of people like the look of it lower and it handles better (to be honest, the Vec C rides well, but the handling can be pretty rubbish at times!)Forgive my ignorance on this matter guys as I'm pretty new to the Vectra but why would I want to lower it?
I like the way my car looks un-lowered (standard hatchback) but I occasionally regret not doing it when the springs snapped, like last week when I pulled out of the work car park with ice-cold tyres and badly understeered at the roundabout!
Lower springs would do nothing to help you in icey conditions like you've described. They lower the centre of gravity, which isn't a relevant handling characteristic when the road is slippery - if the car is sliding, then the weight of the body on top of the suspension isn't leaning. It's when you have the opposite situation - the tyres grip (i.e. dry road) on a bend, that the body leans as inertia makes the weight of the car go straight as you're turning.
In addition, a lower car is that much more problematic in deep snow as it will drag its underside on the snow that much sooner.
A lowered car has its handling benefits, but not during snow and ice.
