Default Car just been serviced need advice

nothing major, I have a Vectra estate 1.9 CDTi diesel, had it serviced by a vauxhall garage last week, they replaced perfectly good screen wash (that had anti freeze in it) with normal water, never stamped my service book and on the paper work called my vectra an astra

Luckly they didn't find anything wrong so i wasn't stung.

But my main question is i've just done a search on the part number to check what oil they put in and it was 10w 40 Semi synthetic. Being a diesel I thought it should be fully synth, i've put my reg in both halfrauds and euro parts websites for parts and both say it should have full.

Any advise shall I go back into the garage and ask for Full, or doesn't it matter, what's the difference between semi and full

Did they charge u for semi or fully, and I'd go back and get the book stamped, fully is thinner than semi but not sure what your model should have.

Vauxhall themselves told me a few days ago that 1.9cdti vectras came with fully synthetic from the factory and advised me to keep it the same
    hope this helps

Vauxhalls recommendation is that ALL Vec-C engines (and Signums) have the 5w/30 fully synth long life oil.

Ok i'll go back in there and ask what oil they put in as all it lists is a part number, and seeing as they have it labled it as an astra they have prob put the wrong oil in. I did go back the next day and got them to stamp my book.

That might explain it. Astra engines up until 2004 (the Astra-G models) took 10w/40.

Just been in to see them, I double checked my paperwork and they even had the wrong chassis number. Their answer to that was are you a new customer. So because I'm a new customer it makes it ok to put in the wrong details. I said so you've got the wrong car details and you've probably put the wrong oil in the car, he said its the same oil for all cars that they do. I asked him what oil it was, 5 mins later he comes back and tells me what I already knew so I asked why didn't you put 5-30 like has had all through the service book. He didn't care just basically said oil is oil and we determine what oil to put in from the price of the service. So they won't change it and I'll add their name to the useless garage list on here. So anyone in the Camberley area avoid charters of Camberley they clearly have no idea what they're doing.
