    Assuming you're a hatch/saloon

    Front 42
    Rear 38

    Straight from the manual.

When I got my car they had 31 in all round. I checked the handbook and they said 38 in the front for standard 17" (3.0 V6). So I put them up (did the back too) and since then the car seems a bit light on the front end and doesnt appear to grip as well.........is this a characteric of putting the pressure up that high?

Hi m8, soz to pester, is those tyre pressures what you've got on yours, my manual for the GSI only tells me tyre pressures for 17inch tyres nothing above that.

    cheers

I aslso have the V6 (but pre-facelift). Putting the pressure up does lighten the steering & yes it does feel a little vague, but that was a common complaint of vecs. If you run them too soft (and IMO 31 is way too soft) you will wear out the tread towards the outside of the tyres i.e. they wont wear evenly.

Same size as VXR 19"s and that's what the manual says.

    Voxer you're asking about 19's not 17's.

I checked mine for the 1st time since i bought the car 4ish months ago and my 235/35/19's were all at 25psi (must have been like that from new )

Filled them up to 39 front & 35 back as manual says for a 2.2 with those wheels and f*ck me its a bumpy ride now. As i work near the stealers i popped in to check that was def right and the 'Technician' told me he sets them @ 32psi all round and the tyres will wear ok and its not to bumpy so thats my mission for tomorrow!

I got a new set of hankook ventus sport on the front of mine to replace the goodyears, the handling was abismal, I then noticed the tyres were wearing a bit too much on the side of the tread.
Checked the pressures 29psi as fitted by a local company (eejits)

Put fronts to 38 and back to 36, handling a lot crisper now, the hankooks are actually quite good it's the fitters that were rubbish!
