Default Bad EGR and no response from the throttle 2,0 DTI

    Guys,

My 2004 2,0 DTI stops all the time. Spanner light comes on, engine is running but has no response from the throttle whatsoever. I turn the engine off for a moment, start it up and it works fine again.

Had it at the local Vx dealer, they said bad EGR. They cleaned it and it worked fine for a week, then it was back stopping again. About 2 weeks after the workshop had it, I took out the EGR and it was pretty dirty already. I must assume that the workshop cleaned it nicely, which means it gets dirty pretty quickly. The first few days after I cleaned it it worked fine, then the problems started again. Do I need to replace the EGR, or is it something else causing the EGR to soot up quickly? Could the problem be somewhere else than the EGR?

There seems to be no commons for when it stops. It happens with cold and hot engine, driving fast and slow, sometimes it's fine for a few days, other times it stops every 20 mins. My car has 168' kilometers on the clock.

Any help appreciated, as I would really hate spending lots of money on an EGR that might not solve the problem...

    Cheers, Daniel

Forgot to mention that the engine often coughs a little around 2200 rpm, and the mpg seems to be lower than normal
