Default Sometimes ESP light turns on while driving

    Dear All,
while I'm driving, sometimes, the ESP light turns on without reason, then when I stop and restart the car the problem vanish.

Do you know if this is due to an electrical false contact or worst due to a short circuit?
    Thanks a lot in advance

You would need to plug a decent code reader into the car fella and it will tell you why the light is being activated

Much as I hate to tell you this but I have the same problem. ESP started randomly coming on same as yours until eventually it now stays on all the time
Local specialist diagnosed it as a bad SAS (Steering Angle Sensor). Now for the bad news! Veccys without ESP have the SAS on the steering rack (about £90) for those with ESP, the SAS in INSIDE the CIM (£355+VAT!!!!!).
I tried Ebay, scrappies etc but these CIMS are rare beasts. Luckily another forum member had one so I bought it off him and going to get it fitted for £60.
Not saying it's the same problem but if it is then eventually the steering wheel warning light will come and and the indicators will stop cancelling!!
Tech2 will track it down, Opcomm won't as the Tech2 can read live data from the SAS and that's how he tracked the problem down. He showed me the Tech2 screen as he turned the wheels and you could see it changing from OK to 'bad data'.

Agreed, that was what happened to mine
Dealership advised it could be one of several things, was chargeable, but I pointed out I still had a warranty!

I then took a photo of it as it was getting worse
On mine it only happened when turning left at low speed with the left indicator on
I then found once the left signal had been cancelled the arrow stayed on, on the display, but on the exterior the light was off

On TECH2 they found no fault code, so good old diagnosis had to come in to play
IN VX that means guess work...

Luckily I have a local VX specialist (non stealer!) who does a brilliant job for not much money He took half an hour to diagnose the SAS data error and when I asked how much, he said nothing as he hadn't fixed anything
Obviously he's the one fitting the replacement CIM!!
