Default Recommend me new suspention set-up

I have a broken front coil spring and the shocks look like originals so looking to replace the lot for lowered / uprated shocks and springs.
What do you recommend? looking for a drop that would compliment 18" wheels with 225/40 tyres on a 2003 GSI. Cheers

I really dont want to go down the coilover route for the exact reasons you mention. I see alot of guys seem to recommend the Eibach / Bilstein combo and does fit with my budget, but just wanted any other suggestions / experiances before i take the plunge.

Personally I'd recommend Bilstein B4's if you want softer standard type suspension, Bilstein B6's if you want the sportier harder suspension, Bilstein B8's if you want that little bit more.

What springs you use is personal choice of course, the most popular on here seem to be Eibachs (30mm drop) but H&R's (40mm drop) are superb.

My preferred combo (and what I'm using) is Bilstein B6 shocks with H&R springs.

Thanks for you valuble input mate, where did you get the H&R Springs from? I've got 18" alloys to go on with 225/40 tyres so im assuming i would get away with the 40mm drop? Cheers

I bought my shocks and springs from Larkspeed. I'm running 19" VXR's with 235/35/19's so yes you'll be fine with what you're planning.
