    Default Re-finishing road springs

I managed to pick up a pair of Irmscher springs for my Vec and I intend to fit them along with the rear eibachs.

The problem is that the Irmy springs are red and the eibachs are grey. Whats the best way to re-finish the springs?

    Hammerite, powder coating, plastic dipping?

My only worry with the powder coating was that baking them may damage the springs

Have you hammerited any springs bud?

powder coating should be ok though, cars are baked after painting and they seem to be able to cope with the temp in an oven when rolled in for this, not hammerited any myself but i am sure it would be fine, at the end of the day they are only painted red to make em look different, i cant see either harming them

Very true Rich, may as well get them done properly and get a decent paint match

I've even been looking for 2 small "irmscher" stickers to stick on them when they are painted

Come on John. I know you like to have a really smart looking car , but stickers on the springs?
I look forward to seeing it though cos I do think it will look brilliant.
I think powder coating will give thebest finish, but heating will not affect them as they will have been well heated to harden them when they were manufactured.
It all depends on what the finances are.

I was only looking for the stickers as the fronts have irmscher stamped on them

I'll give the local powder coaters a bell in the morning to see how much it'll be. Shouldn't be much as it's only 2 short springs
