    Arrow Car storage

I'm going away on operations for for 7 months and i'm putting my car in to storage. I know to leave the handbrake off and disconnect the battery, but i'm not sure what else to do. People say i sould over inflate the wheels or put it on axle stands. It's also getting a car cover put over it to protect it from the elemnts, even though it's being kept in a hanger.
What do i do about the fuel and oils in it ????.

Leave it with me and I will take it for a regular run to keep it ticking over.

Seriously though dont leave too much fuel in it as apparently it can go off over a long period of time.

Be careful of what type of cover you use as some can scratch the paintwork if blown about by the wind, though if left in hanger it should be ok.

Not sure about over inflating the tyres, though they can become mishaped if left in the one position for too long. Axle stands are probably best if positioned correctly.

If possible get a mate to run it every couple of days, I do realise there may be difficulties with that.

As for oil not a lot you can do about that, except for change it when you get back if you think it might go off.

Really the best thing is to get someone to give it a run every few days just to keep everything moving.

Sorry should have wished you god luck and stay safe

Do a service before you put it in the hanger mate, would think about full tank of fuel to minimise condensation in tank especially over the temp changes till you back on leave (fuel not likely to go off in the 7 months). other than that wouldnt worry about much other than what you have said about the handbrake (leave out of gear and chock wheels). will you be using it when back on RnR? Just check you havent any punctures dont forget cars are in storage for 6-9 months from manufacture with tyres etc on.

That all I did with mine when i went on tour. cover prob good idea tho as the dust and ****e from the hanger roof was horrendous and if any birds decide to leave a present it will protect the paint.

Have a good tour mate, wont ask when you go for OpSec but stay safe.

    Default

have a safe tour when you go

personally i would put it on axel stands have as little fuel in as possable as odds on it will go off no point in wasting good fuel.
i would disconect the battery as 7 mth ur battery is going to be drained and you dont want to be out of the country and your alarm starts going off
also to stop any moist air in the cabin going bad and maybe going moldey get some cat litter in a tray and put it on the back seat it sucks all the moist air out of the cabin, people with convertables do this when they store it in winter but i would do it as well for the sake of a couple of quid

but tbh i had a escort cab sat outside my house for a year i went out charged the battery and it started up stright away so carnt see much going wrong

I would make sure it is very hot when parked up, so there is no condesation in the exhaust to rot away whilst its parked.

I seem to recall there being something in the handbook about long term storage and re-commisioning.

I would also put a thin smear of vaseline on the door seals, so they don't stick to the doors over time.

But here seems to be reasonable advice
