Default 1.9 CDTI 150 Smoke when accelerating

    Hi all,

I have a 2008 vectra 1.9 CDTI SRI 6speed 150. This has been chipped by Bluefin.

When i startup the car is fine, so no smoke or anything, But when im driving when its warm, and accelerate hard, so the turbo kicks in, the exhaust shoots out a load of smoke/soot.

Any ideas why it chugs out so much smoke when accelerating?

    It only has 50k miles.

Ive heard it might be something to do with a DGR Filter or something similar to that name that can get clogged up with Soot, but vauxhall are quoting £85 to investigate. would this be the issue?

    thanks,

chipped or remapped ones do,.. my old 08 does and that's been re-mapped. More beoause it doesn't have a DPF (diesel particulate filter) and when gassing it, because more fuel is going in,.. more gets chucked out the back

IMO, Smoking when you put the boot in is just because its a diesel, it's what they do.

Yep, as Big Dave has said, booting a diesel gives smoke. I quite like it!

Do not rule out a boost leak, get someone to hold the revs down on boost while you have a good look around for any splits in the pipework & or intercooler.

I had a chipped Omega diesel prior to the Signum and that did the same when booting it. You should have seen it when towing my caravan up a slight incline, smoke bellowing from the rear. Didn't half shift though. I removed the chip in the end, less fun, but no smoke.

had the system read with tech 2 AND THERE are no error codes so must just b as it has a lot more power now due to the Bluefin re-map :-)

Not all remaps are smokey... plus tech 2 or any other diagnostics won't show a boost leak.
As i said earlier, check all the boost pipes / intercooler for any leaks
