    Default Code readers

Hi all. Relatively new to the Veccy C, and my 54 plate 2.0DTi has started showing the spanner in the display when I start it. It goes of after 20-30 seconds though.

So I was wondering what the best (read CHEAPEST) way is to get the codes. Needless to say I am not a fan of the Stealerships. I only want to lift codes, not start changing anything.

I assume there is no Paperclip test like on my old veccy, I have already searched for that. Are the readers on ebay ok? they seem to go from £20 for USB wotsits up to £50 for all in one's.

A local garage will be able to read codes for about £30

Search for pedal trick give that ago first as you might be able to get codes for free

As said, glow plugs need changing. Could be one or two that have gone but better to change the whole four for peace of mind. Easy to change and will only require 10mm deep socket and some wd40. NGK part number Y-523J, stock number 3703.

P.S. pedal trick does not work on 2.0DTi.

Yeah I thought it might not work as doesn't work on 1.9 either but thought was worth a try
