    Default Spark plug replacement 2.2.direct (z22yh) advice.

    I need to replace the spark plugs on my 2.2.Direct (o4 reg) z22yh.
    I have never replaced these before on this vehicle.Can anyone advice as to the procedure and any tips i would find helpful.

    Don't use a screwdriver to lever off the coil pack!! . Mine was very stiff to remove so I used one to help it off and broke off at little bit of the plastic casing.

    Don't over tighten them, just give them a good nip up.

    I imagine it'll be the same or very similar as the how2 for changing the plugs in the 2.0.

    Is there better to remove the plugs while the engine is still warm.How is the coil pack held down.Is it attached with torx type screws ?

    Pretty much the same, If I remember rightly its normal bolt heads to get it off.

    I wouldn't have thought it made much difference, but when a car is in for servicing, most of the time the engine will be warm from either the customer dropping it off, or by simply driving it into the workshop.

    I have never changed the plugs before.What type of socket/length of extension bar do i need as i believe they are deep into the engine.

    A 16 mm plug socket, according to the how2 link up above. Looking at the how2 pictures, they're in slightly deeper than the length of the socket part of the tool.
