    Default THERMOSTAT 1.8vvt sri?

Anyone replaced the thermostat on the 1.8vvt? If so where did you get new one? Was speaking to vauxhall today and was told it comes in two parts at quite a cost. Not sure if its thermostat - temp goes up in traffic but on open roads it drops quickly and usually doesnt go back up.

Found the how2 for the z18xe engine. Was it the electronic thermostat on your engine?

hi ive got a 1.8 ls 04reg the temperature gauge would only go to 75.but when you are stuck in traffic it would rise to 90. when you are out of traffic and on a run the needle would drop back to 80. what made it worse when you put the heater button on 2 or 3 the needle would drop down to a flat 70.you still get heat but not hot.i fixed it by getting a new thermostat and now the needle rises up between 87 and 89 and stays there.also the heater is a major improvement and so is the mpg . my mileage in on 53654 i hope this helps

I am getting really good mpg and heater seems fine. Its just the gauge reading that doesnt seem right sometimes.

Not 100% sure. Pretty sure it isnt the same any day but in traffic it doesnt take long, and on long distance trips it varies.

when you start your car from cold tomorrow turn the heater off if the gauge has not reached 87 to 89 in 3 minues
the needle should stay there and hardly move
if the needle lies flat its faulty the garage changed my thermostat and is fine now
    whats your mileage on?

Its at the 68000 mark. Was your engine the 1.8vvt z18xer? It seems to be electronic thermostat and costs around £70 in this engine.
